Mon Ami Gabi

Mon Ami Gabi – Classic French bistro chic meets Las Vegas glitz on ‘The Strip’

The entrance to Mon Ami Gabi inside the 'Paris', Las Vegas

Stepping into the warm cosy and moody ambience of Mon Ami Gabi, transports you into a non-Vegas world.  The deep dark wood and the dim lighting coupled with the black and white clothing of the staff seems almost out of place on the *loud* Strip.

As we pored over the concise menu, Chef and owner, renowned Gabino Sotelino whetted our appetite with a delicate plate of grated carrots with a dash of fresh parsley in champagne vinaigrette.  It is light refreshing and lovely, and goes beautifully with the warm baguette – French of course!

The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake on a bed of celery root remoulade and a little gribiche sauce – a light mayonnaise-style cold egg sauce – on the side is a delicious Hors D’Oeuvres .

Our mains are delectable too!  One of Gabi’s Classics, Beef Bourguignon – on buttered noodles/pasta with mushrooms, pearl onions, carrots and bacon – is absolutely amazing!  We (especially me!) couldn’t get enough of it.   The plate of noodles arrives naked, and a small pot of deep dark sauce is whisked from behind and delicately poured over the noodles.   The aroma from the meat and vegetables fills the table and we couldn’t wait to tuck in.

The Seared Salmon – with melted fennel, celery root and a small dollop of lemon crème fraiche – is cooked to our liking (as requested).  It arrives on the bed of root vegetables with a small base of light broth.  The light lemon crème fraiche on the side gives it an extra burst of flavour.

Ending our lovely dining experience is the Chocolate Mousse, but not your usual kind of mousse.  This is light and mousse-y dark chocolate served in a small glass jar and topped with hundreds of tiny crunchy malt balls and a small dish of beautiful vanilla crème fraiche on the sideWe are in heaven…

Our take…a five-star meal at three-star prices.  A fantastic dining experience that’s truly good value.
