La Casa Del Caffè

La Casa Del Caffè – A buzzy caffè bar just minutes from the historical Pantheon

La Casa Del Caffè - Rome, Italy

Rounding the corner from the Pantheon, we could hear the buzz.  Then we smelled it… The rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee!

La Casa Del Caffè is well known amongst locals and tourists alike for its coffee Tazza d’Oro, which is freshly roasted onsite daily.  Tazza d’Oro literally translates to golden cup, which is how your caffè should look like – well, definitely if you’re in Italy.

Don’t expect it to be the typical café scene.  Here, locals (and tourists have learnt to) just pop in, order at the bar and stand around to quickly down it with freshly baked cornetto – similar to a croissant and usually filled with chocolate, sometimes with custard.  That’s why coffee is made at just the right temperature.

In the Summer, granità di caffè – coffee that has been frozen, crushed into a velvety slush-like ice, and placed in a glass between layers of whipped cream – is a wonderful treat throughout the day (and night!).
