Empire Cafe, Raffles Hotel Singapore – Old world charm in new world Singapore

Drawing from the décor and style of the Nyonya-Peranakan era, Empire Café offers a menu of flavourful traditional fare, and dishes with a slightly modern twist.

With Asian classics like rojak – savoury fruit salad, spicy laksa noodles, chicken rice to roti and chicken curry, it’s a delicious affair at the Empire.  Though it might appear that it is quite standard fare that you’re being served (seeing that there are a number of hawker-style food centres around Singapore), the nostalgic vibe you get there is worth it.

We went there on the last couple of days of our holiday in Singapore and thought of it as a little parting gift till we visited that part of the world again.  After all, a visit to Singapore can’t be complete without a visit and a browse though the beautiful colonial building of the Raffles Hotel…
