La Tagliata – Home-style Italian amidst a breathtaking panoramic view of the Amalfi Coast, Positano

The breathtaking panoramic views of the Amalfi Coast and Positano leave you in disbelief that you’re within such beauty.  It’s what makes this little restaurant a gem of a find.  For some, the ride up (and down) is a bit too hair-raising as the narrow windy coastal roads can be a bit like a ride in a theme park – but we think it is amazing!

Set high in the hills overlooking Positano in the village of Montepertuso, this family-owned restaurant serves up home-style Italian food from home-grown produce.

This farm-style restaurant embodies rusticness and no-frills food and service.  You’ll be welcomed as family and treated like a family member, don’t expect black-tie service.

You’ll get food – lots of it, flowing wine and sweeping views as you tuck into the hearty plates put before you.  It’s all (very) home-style opening with a platter of antipasti – cold meat and olives, and bread.  Then come its signature barbecued farm-style fare – a huge platter of a variety of meat and sausages.

Traditional pastas in different sauces are also available but the locals rave about the barbecued meat so we decided to “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”…  While this place comes quite highly recommended by the locals, in our opinion, the food is basic but the locale is exceptional.

Most accommodations on the Coast are able to call the restaurant to arrange for pick-up.  You should arrive at the restaurant before sunset as the view up there is truly exceptional.
