Chatuchak-JJ Market’s Ice Cafe
(Chatuchak) JJ Market’s Ice Cafe – A cheap and cheerful pitstop to cool off after the heat of browsing in the market

Fruit in Abundance! Rambutans, Water-Apple, Mangosteens... Chatuchak Market - Bangkok, Thailand
A favourite watering-hole with local foodies and tourists alike. It is a fantastic must-do pit-stop. However, you’d need to share a table or wait a while for one as there is always a flow of customers. Food was served in huge rustic-looking plates and drinks were served in oversized cups looking like decorative bowls.
An eight-cup plunger of Lemongrass drink served icy cold with honey is a nice welcome after walking in the heat of the city and the market. Though the honey was not really necessary, it added a nice flavour to this extraordinary drink.
The Rambutan Fruit Shake was very yummy, though it surprisingly had a tinned-fruit taste…
We shared a Seafood Pad Thai which was delicious! Well cooked, generous with the seafood, and served with huge Thai river prawns – imagine big scampis. Dessert was – what else, but mango and sticky rice! This was divine with a generous serve of four cheeks of mangoes. I personally would’ve like more sticky rice with it, but nevertheless it was delish, as with all our experiences with this dessert.
Our foodie friend had the seafood linguine which not only looked divine but was also delicious, with a generous amount of seafood.

Chatuchak market in Bangkok, Thailand is one of the largest markets in the world. It’s only open at the weekends – Saturday and Sunday from 7am till late – it’s about a 20-minute ride on the clean and efficient Skytrain from the city centre to Mo Chit, where the market is.
